Reading Lolita Opera

8.5" x 11"

+ Flyer for Elisabeth Mehl Greene's opera inspired by Reading Lolita in Tehran, a novel about a group of Iranian women who study Western literature while their rights are being curbed by their country's totalitarian and patriarchal authorities
+ Design reflects this conflict through organic traditional Persian motifs coupled with a calligraphic font, overlaid with the common visual language of totalitarian propaganda—sharp, bold shapes, colors, and fonts suppressing the former’s legibility
+ Built for standard print size in both color and black and white, using imagery and fonts free for commercial in response to limited budget and quick turnaround
